Rules

General

IGNORANCE IS NOT AN EXCUSE. Please read the following set of rules for participating in DMR. All refs and racers are expected to know these rules. The excuse of "I didn't know" will not be tolerated.

Setting Up the Game:

1-a) A race must have 16(no more, no less) racers to count towards stats. A racer may be replaced before the start of the first round AFTER 30sec time limit is up (i.e an observer may take his/her place) If no one is observing, that racer will be the loser. The ref does not have to look for another player if the racer left when the game was launched.

1-b) All races shall be hosted by 1 referee. Additional referees are allowed in if the main ref desires. The main ref may boot the additional refs if he/she feels like it.

1-c) The name used in the race will be used for the stats, including any non-alphanumeric characters. The only exception is if a character is added to the name to login because of lagging out while trying to join the game. The referee will then use the original name when reporting the race. The user with an extra character is required to tell the ref about this problem in BR CHAT or else.

1-d) Referees can only race if they are hosting with the ref bot. Referees hosting without the ref bot CANNOT race.

1-e) Anyone attempting to smurf into a game as a ref or racer will be banned indefinitely, if the game is in progress join as an OBSERVER! If you do not, you will be booted and banned.

1-f) Smurfing will be kept under strict enforcement. That is, that you may keep your racing name anonymous, but the UGN staff will know who you are. You are NOT allowed to race under any RACING name that is not registered (Please see section 9). Any unregulated smurfing names (ie racing names that are NOT registered) will result in a ban from UGN. Should you have an unregistered smurfing name and a registered racing name, your account will be deleted and you will be banned from UGN.

1-g) Only REGISTERED RACING NAMES will be allowed to race. You are not allowed to race under your real UB name if you have registered a racing name. This means if RuGr registers a racing name of Racer1, the name 'RuGr' isn't allowed to race, but Racer1 is. Keep in mind racing names ARE OPTIONAL. If you don't register a racing name, you are allowed to race under your UB name. The purpose of having a racing name is so you can have anonymity and/or be on a racing squad without it affecting your UB squad. We are trying to eliminate the 2 names on leader board (ie Having one name with a good average and one name made for blocking those on top of leader board).
-Refs please be aware at ALL TIMES to make sure the right names are racing. Should Maria or Surreal come across a name that isn't allowed to race, you will go under a strict evaluation of your reffing privileges.

During the Race:

2-a) Stacking teams is no longer applicable. Once a ref launches the race, they will randomize teams (/random) so that a certain team doesn't have an unfair advantage. This solves the problem of team stacking. -Refs you will only use /random ONCE at the beginning of the race. Abusing this will result in a removal of your ref tag. Before using /random give enough time to make sure all racers are in game and not lagged out or missing map, then perform the /random and give a 30 if someone calls for it.

2-b) If a player performs a fake countdown, they will be booted. No warning necessary. Typing !321 when the bot is being used is considered to be a fake countdown and you WILL be booted.

2-c) A player who changes teams will be booted. The only times one can change teams is if they leave the game and return, and their color has changed from their original color or if at the end of the race one color is left. ALL RACERS must agree in order for a player to switch to another color. Don't switch color until the ref tells you. Switching before ref allows it results in a boot from that race. You may also implement /random and have server pick colors for the remaining players. Once again do not switch or implement /random until all racers agree. Refs - Make sure before you reset that all racers agree with the color change (if there is one).

2-d) If the server crashes and a race is continued for ANY reason, you are to return to your ORIGINAL COLOR before the race crashed. New UB allows you to have a situation with 3 reds 1 blue and etc. Races will ONLY be CONTINUED if it is 8 racers or less left in game. A race may be continued up to 15minutes after server crash. If server does not come back up during this time, the race is null and void. We will not chase after 8 racers to continue a race after the 15minute grace period.

2-e) Taking the "shortcut" through the middle area of Phar Racing will result in a boot. If you lagged into it accidently the ref will give you a chance to go back out the way you came in.

2-f) A player leaving in the middle of a round is marked as the loser of that race. The ref will say free which and should then give enough time for boosters to recharge.

2-g) If a referee isn't racing while reffing, they may switch to observer or stay on team color. If they stay on team color, they must remain in the ref-box or in the center of the map in Phar Racing. They must remain clear of all walls. Do not, I repeat do not follow the racers on track.

2-h) Abusive or rude behavior could result in a booting. It is the referee's decision. Referees will first boot the player, and then ban if a second violation occurs.

2-i) If a player violates a rule, he is the loser and is the only one booted. If a player violates the rules in such a way that, in the opinion of the referee, the outcome of the race was not affected, the player will only be warned, and the player in last place is the only one booted.

2-j) We can't control people IMing you. We will not redo a race because someone has instant messaged you. Simply, that isn't our problem it's yours. Turn off your instant messengers, pagers, and cell phones. And we don't care if AOL went down on you.

2-k) Lag spikes from the server affect all people, however resets won't usually be done due to them. There may be a reset if there is a lag spike before finishing the first turn of the race. It will be the referees decision if it affected people greatly or not. Also, if it screwed up the ending and a determined winner cannot be decided, the ref may redo the race. Refs use good judgment on this.

2-l) In a DMR Conventional 2 Lapper, if a racer is lapped while still being in the starting blocks (i.e. they have NOT moved) then they will be booted once lapped and that round will CONTINUE (not a free). If a racer is lapped on the track, then they are the loser and will be booted, that round is over and ref will start next round. If a racer lag outs and leaves or lags out and is lapped, that round is over and they are the loser and once again ref will start next round.

2-m) Racers may observe the race once they lose or if they missed the race and would like to watch. When observing, you are NOT to distract the ref or the racers. Please use Team Speak (placing a ' before each sentence) to talk to whoever else is observing with you. Any disruption from observers will result in a boot. Switching from observers to a team will result in a boot and a possible ban from DMR. Observers may NOT call the outcome of a race. Failure to follow these rules will result in a ban from race. Your rights to observe will be forfeited IMMEDIATELY if continued abuse is conducted in the race.
-Refs may ref from observer mode or regular UB mode. It is your preference. In either case, you will not distract racers in any way, shape or form. Complaints against you, may result in a removal of your ref tag.

2-n) When ref calls the loser, that person has 3 seconds to press F4 to switch to observer mode (if desired). After 3 seconds, if you do not switch over, you will be booted from race. You may return, UNDER OBSERVER MODE to view the rest of the race, if you wish to. Just note refs will not wait around for you to press F4. This will keep the flow of the race moving. If the ref bans you from race after you lose instead of booting, then just keep in mind to press F4 quicker next time to prevent that from happening. Observers may only talk out of team speak between the time that is after the ref's call and before countdown. Arguing with the ref about why you lost, in observer mode, will result in a ban from the race.

2-o) Hiding in the starting blocks during a race or in any other place will result in an immediate boot and an indefinite ban from UGN.

The Finish Line

3-a) A player who touches the finish line is considered to be across it.

3-b) After crossing the finish line, each player must move a considerable distance from it, such that they will not interfere with the other racers.

3-c) If multiple players clearly try to intentionally create a tie, all involved will be booted. Boot the one who would normally have been last then the one who tried to tie.

3-d) A line block in DMR is defined as a racer TOUCHING the line and then going back to hit another player or breaking ON the line. Any action that affects or may potentially affect the results of a race made by a player that has already come in contact with the line. Breaking BEFORE the line is allowed, but once you touch it, you MUST move across it IMMEDIATELY! Charging down or up on the line is NOT a line block. This means if you are moving up or down across the line in a continuous motion, cutting off the other racer. Charging vertically up and down on the line IS a line block. Refs please use your discretion on this. The finish line is no longer a green wavy line, it has been changed to white boxes. Same rules apply, as soon as you come into any contact with the line you are considered to be ACROSS it. Do NOT interfere with other racers once you finish.

Miscellaneous

4-a) In order to qualify to be the champion within a category, a player must participate in at least 10% of all races.

4-b) Seasons for DMR last 20 days or 200 races + 1 day of hosting. So if hosting reaches 200 races before 1 month expires one more day will be designated as the final day of hosting for that season. That season will be concluded with the all star race. If you are in the top 16 and do not participate in the all star race, your place may become void and the person next in line will receive your position assuming they participated in the all star. If you have a problem with the date set make sure you message me (Maria) or whoever is hosting it about the problem at least 3 days prior to the all star event.

DMR Conventional

5-a) Each race is subdivided into rounds. At the end of each round, the player in last place is booted or the one who has violated a rule.

5-b) Each round on Phar Racing, HyperDrive or Rainbow Road lasts 1 or 2 laps. This may change later on.

5-c) If a player leaves during a round, he is considered the loser, and the rest of the players move on (freebie).

5-d) A player who has finished the race cannot give his place to the loser. If someone leaves before the loser is booted, the loser is also booted.

5-e) A player is given 30 seconds if needed if he calls "30" or if he disconnects before the race starts. If a player yells 30 during the time a ref is performing a count down you will only be given 15 seconds if any time at all. This is for waiting so long to call 30 seconds. You will not be given 30 seconds unless the ref acknowledges that you've said it, so make sure the ref says ok.

5-f) A tie results in a complete re-race. Save all controversial screenshots, evidence is always great. F11 takes Screen Shots.

5-g) A player cannot be booted unless he violates a rule, is lapped by the 1st place racer, goes the wrong way around the track, or all other players have crossed the finish line, and he has not. A referee cannot boot a player due to a perceived lag-out unless the player is lapped.

5-h) The referee's decision is final, if you do not agree with it try taking a screenshot or something to prove us otherwise. We will the deal with the referee.

5-i) Do not call the result (which includes calling Lines or Ties) at the end of a race. This only confuses the ref and makes him doubtful. Remember you are not the ref. The ref may boot a player if they call a result during a controversial finish.

DMR Marathon

6-a) Players will race for 15 minutes (timed game) + a small amount of overtime (see rules 6-d, 6-e).

6-b) A player who is lapped by the 1st place racer will be booted.

6-c) If the 1st place racer laps everyone, the race is over, regardless of how much time has elapsed.

6-d) Once overtime flashes, continue racing until 1st place has finished, even if it means doing another lap. Don't stop until the ref has either booted you or told you to stop.

6-e) If the finish is too close to call, the tied players do a 1 lap duel. This continues until a clear winner is determined.

Immunity

7-a) The first round and last round are done like regular lappers, with no one having immunity.

7-b) The winner of each round will have immunity next round, meaning they cannot lose.

7-c) The only rule the person who has immunity must follow is "Do not be racist or abusive."

7-d) If the person with immunity finishes last the person who is 2nd last(or one who has broken a rule that round) will be the loser.

7-e) As before if there is a tie for either first (including the person who has immunity) or last(excluding person with immunity) there is a complete rerace with previous immunity winner as the person with immunity.

7-f)The person with immunity can switch teams at any point during his round of immunity but must switch back at the end of their round. The start of a round is considered the point AFTER a ref has done a !321 reset(not during countdown, but directly after). Immune users cannot change colors until their round has OFFICIALLY started. Changing colors before the !321 reset will forfeit your right to be immune and that lap will be done as a regular lapper with NO ONE being immune.

7-g) The person with immunity can win immunity again if they are once again the first person to finish the race.

UGN Chat/BR Chat

8-a) Do not abuse refs publicly or in whisper chat mode.

8-b) The ref is greater then you. Meaning if for some reason somehow you disagree with the ref go ahead and message Maria or surreal about it, however until we do something if anything the ref is considered right and the racer in question will be wrong. The ref doesn't have to host (until I force you to for inactivity) you do not own the chat.

8-c) Don't be stupid, people abusing the privilege of not being smart will be booted/banned.

8-d) If a ref tells you to be quiet, BE QUIET!

Registration

9-a) You may ONLY register ONE NAME per IP and it must be your REAL UB/BR name. Each registered name will be confirmed by email. So don't put a fake email address otherwise your registration will not be activated.

9-b) You may have ONE racing name per real name. The registration will ask you for your REAL UB name, your real email address and a racing name (optional) if you choose to have one. ** Keep in mind, only your REAL UB name will be invited to UGN-R channel and you're only allowed to race under your RACING NAME (if it differs from your UB name)** (ie 1 RuGr RuGr@blah.com Racer1) This list will not be made public, so if you choose to have a racing name, no one but refs will know whom you really are. Your email will not be given out, it will be encrypted, and therefore NO ONE will have access to it.

9-c) If you share an IP with another user please contact Maria or surreal and we will make an exemption for the other person on your account. (ie 1 RuGr RuGr@blah.com Racer1 (RuGr Ferocious) 2 Ferocious Ferocious@blah.com Racer2 (Ferocious RuGr). We will know if names don't match on IP's so don't ask for exemptions if you really don't need one. Doing so will result in a ban.

9-d) Registering fake names or stealing another persons name will result in an indefinite ban from UGN (and trust me we will find out).

9-e) You can register throughout each season of DMR (if you haven't so already) in order to race for that season. It doesn't take a long time to register, so don't use laziness as an excuse. For the most part, you will only have to register once. But there may be times where it is necessary to re-register due to script change and so forth.

9-f) New scripts allow you to edit and manage your squad and profile. When you register, you have to provide a password so that you can login and manage your squad and profile. If you forget your password, a UGN admin can reset it for you and then you can login and change it to whatever you wish to have. You also have the option of creating a squad. Creators of squads will be set as leaders. You may give the leadership of the squad to the real leader or designated leader of your squad. If there is a problem and you refuse or can't give leadership to your squad leader, a UGN admin will do it for you.

9-g) Once you are leader you MUST request players to your squad. Players cannot join/create squads that have been already created. As leader, you have to request them and they can accept the request.
NOTE: If you request someone to your squad and they deliberately ruin your squad stats, we cannot do anything to remove that person's stats from your squad. You requested them; therefore you are responsible for their actions toward your squad. You are, however, able to remove them from your squad. Just know that whatever placing they got will stay on your squad record.

9-h) You are allowed to change your squad name and/or disband your squad at ANY TIME during the season. You are allowed to change squads at ANY TIME during season. Ie. Squad Racing changes name from Racing to Racers, same people are in the squad; only the name has changed. Your stats will show the current squad you are in at that time.

9-i) Though you are allowed to change your racing name at any point throughout the season, you MAY NOT change your name directly after a race that you participated in. You must WAIT til the race you were in is reported, then you may change your racing name. Users changing racing names without waiting til race is reported will be banned from UGN. We will assume that you are trying to avoid being reported (due to bad placement).

UGN-R Channel

10-a) UGN-R is a channel for REGISTERED USERS ONLY! Your Real UB name is the only name that will be invited to this channel. Under no circumstances will any other name but this will be allowed in this channel. Passwords to all games will be given out here. YOU ARE UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ALLOWED TO GIVE OUT THE PASSWORD TO ANYONE NOT IN THE CHANNEL If this should occur, you will be banned indefinitely.

10-b) Same rules apply in this channel as in the UGN channel (see rules 8-a through 8-d). You will be courteous and respectful towards refs and each other. Refs have final say on any matter concerning a race or a situation that occurs in the channel. UGN-R will follow the CoC rules. If you are not familiar with them, get acquainted fast. Basically, you will behave in the same manner as in BRChat. If you don't abide by this, you will be banned from UGN-R.

10-c) If by chance, someone not in channel has access to the password for the game, he/she will be requested to join UGN-R under their REAL UB name that correlates with that racing name (ie. Racer joins race, Racer on registration list corresponds to 3Dwarlord, 3Dwarlord MUST enter UGN-R channel) If they do not enter channel, they will be booted from race.

10-d) Only registered users may observe races.
